A heart-breaking loss for Mexico earlier today as Netherlands defeated them to move onto the quarter-finals. Mexico scored in the 48th minute and kept the lead for the next 40 minutes. A half-volley by Sneijder in the 88th minute tied the game. The six minutes of stoppage time was enough for a second Netherlands goal as Robben was awarded a penalty. Huntelaar took the shot and scored crushing Mexico’s hopes of advancement. Netherlands will take on Costa Rica in the quarterfinals.
