Since 1954, Germany has always reached the quarterfinals. Today, they kept that record intact by defeating Algeria. It was a well-fought game by Algeria, but eventually they would succumb to the German onslaught. For most of the game Germany was on the offensive and Algeria managed to hold them scoreless for all of regular time. In the 2nd minute of overtime, Schurrle scored for Germany. Ozil would add another goal for Germany in the 120th+ minute. Algeria would add their own goal shortly after but it would not be enough. The Germans take on the French in a match of epic proportions.
